One of my old time favourite, refreshing drinks during the summer time. My mom still makes it every year and when I have my first sip, it certainly reminds me of the summers from my childhood.
- 1000g of brown sugar
- 5 litre of water
- 15 big heads of elderflower
- 1 lemon sliced,
- 1 orange, sliced
- a spoonful of citric acid
Put all ingredients into a large glass jar. Stir well and leave in the sun for 3 days (not easy to get 3 sunny days in a row in Ireland:))))). Check the weather forcast and only make it when you have enough sunshine.
Strain it, pour it into glass bottles and keep it in the fridge. You can also make ice cubes and take it out when you feel like.
